Production Process
Fibre cement is a strong and versatile material that forms the basis of no less than 40% of our Makura, Mycelia & Carva furniture collections. This creates a material that reflects the robust character of concrete. It consists of a mix of 40% cement, 20% earth, 20% sand, 10% stone powder and 10% fibreglass.
The outer layer has a unique finish: a colour layer with a latex coating that is further protected by a strong PU coating. This not only gives the surface its distinctive look, but also provides lasting protection against daily use and weather influences.
Care instructions
For daily maintenance, a soft cloth with lukewarm water is sufficient. For more stubborn stains, a mild, pH-neutral cleaning agent can be added. Always wipe the surface with a dry cloth to prevent water spots. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents such as chlorine, vinegar or all-purpose cleaners with an abrasive effect, as these can damage the surface.
Spilled liquids on the top layer, such as wine, oil or coffee, should be removed immediately with a damp cloth to prevent staining. Are there still stubborn marks visible? Then you can gently clean with a soft brush and mild soapy water, preferably in circular movements.
When used outdoors, fibre cement is resistant to rain, wind and sun thanks to its protective PU coating. Nevertheless, we recommend cleaning the furniture regularly during autumn and winter, especially in wet weather or when leaves and dirt accumulate. In case of frost, we also recommend covering your furniture with a protective cover. A well-drained, paved surface helps to prevent splashing dirt or prolonged contact with moisture. If you want extra protection, you can treat the surface with a transparent water-repellent coating. This is optional, but can help prevent dirt from sticking.
To avoid damage, we recommend always using felt pads or coasters under hard or sharp objects.
