Antoinette Dewinter

Antoinette Dewinter is a Belgian designer with African roots. She built her career working for fashion agencies in Antwerp and Belgian designers in Paris. Today, she spends much of her time at the Academy in Antwerp, the city she also calls home.

Since 2019, she has been exploring clay exclusively by hand, drawn to its tactility and the craft of making. A strong sense of aesthetics runs through everything she does, with colour, texture, and form at the core of her design language.

Meet the Kuti's designed by Antoinette Dewinter for Pomax

Meet the Kuti’s is an ode to rhythm, fertility, and the African continent. The patterns carved into the ceramics are no coincidence: they symbolize fertility. In traditional cultures, similar lines were traced onto faces as signs of power and life’s continuity. The green tones are intentionally chosen, they evoke growth, renewal, and fresh energy. Combined with the playful silhouettes - bowls resting on three tiny legs - each piece seems to dance, as if the rhythm of the music lives within it.
