Charles De Vil
Curator of soulful dining

Dining is more than just enjoying a meal - it is a ritual, a shared experience that binds people together. It is about the ambiance, the flavours, and the emotions that unfold around the table. For me, hospitality is the art of crafting these moments, shaping spaces where guests don’t just eat but truly connect, engage, and create memories that linger far beyond the final bite.

Every dining experience tells a story. The setting, the carefully curated ingredients, the thoughtful details - they all work together to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and inspire togetherness. When these elements are in harmony, something magical happens: time slows down and senses heighten.

But it is not just about the food. The choice of plates, the weight of the cutlery in your hands, the way a glass feels against your lips - all these elements influence the way we perceive and experience a meal. A dish served on the right plate enhances not only its presentation but also its taste. The perfect glass elevates a fine wine, allowing its aromas to fully unfold. The touch of quality cutlery adds a sense of
refinement and care, making even the simplest of dishes feel special. These details may seem subtle, but they shape the overall experience, turning an ordinary dinner into an extraordinary event.

True hospitality lies in orchestrating these moments with care and authenticity. Because in the end, dining is not just about food. It is about the people, the emotions, and the beautiful experience of coming together.

Igni designed by Charles for pomax

Igni is more than tableware, it is an ode to fire: raw, powerful, and full of meaning. The name comes from Ignis Spectatus, Latin for “one who has withstood the trial by fire.” And you can feel that in every piece. The collection is made from recycled and previously fired clay remnants; material that has already passed through fire once and now begins a second life. Thanks to its high iron content, the clay develops a warm, rusty glow during firing. Even the fragments that don’t survive the flames are reprocessed, adding a rough, grainy texture you can see and feel. Igni is a tribute to the fire that brought people together, that cooked, warmed, and sparked stories. Each piece is a tangible echo of that primal force.
